POST
Dispose of a fixed asset (client account)
Client space Accounting module For: Accountant · Permission: fixed_assets.dispose Conditions
  • The accounting module must be part of the organization’s plan.
  • The asset must not already be disposed of.
  • disposal_date and proceeds are required; proceeds is an integer of at least 0.
  • A fiscal period of the book must cover the disposal date, otherwise the call fails for lack of a fiscal year.
  • The disposal date cannot be before the acquisition date.
  • The asset’s currency must match the currency of the fiscal year of the disposal date.
  • No depreciation of the asset may be posted in a period that starts after the disposal period.
  • Earlier periods must be depreciated first: the accumulated depreciation must reach the target of the latest earlier period. The disposal period itself takes no prorata.
  • The disposal entry is refused when the disposal period is closed.
  • reinvestment_deadline is required when defer_capital_gain is true, and deferral is refused unless proceeds exceed the net book value.
What else happens
  • Posts one entry in the miscellaneous-operations journal, dated the disposal date: it debits the asset’s depreciation account for the accumulated depreciation, debits the disposal net-book-value account (812 in the SYSCOHADA chart) for the remaining net book value, and credits the asset account for the acquisition cost. When proceeds are above zero it also debits the disposal receivable account (485) and credits the disposal proceeds account (822).
  • Takes back any open derogatory depreciation provision of the asset with reversal entries.
  • When defer_capital_gain is true, opens a reinvestment-gain fiscal event for the gain, expected to be reversed on reinvestment_deadline, with its own provision entry.
  • Sets the asset to disposed, stores the disposal date, proceeds and entry, and increments its version.
