Codjo Houngbédji wants a year-end offer on beer crates for his best customers only. Edwige Assogba, who owns the bar Le Palmier, is one of them. On the other side, one bar has often paid late, and Codjo does not want it to benefit from any offer this season. The same steps apply to any business that reserves an offer for loyal customers or keeps a customer out of it.

Reserve a campaign for chosen customers

A campaign has an access mode, set when it is created in Run discount campaigns and fixed after that. With public, the default, everyone can use it. With restricted, only the customers who were given access can, and only between the start and end dates of their access. Codjo creates the offer as restricted. He then gives Le Palmier access with Give a customer campaign access. The access can have a start and an end date, and the end must be after the start. The access is recorded as manual. The request is refused when:
  • the campaign is not restricted;
  • the campaign is archived;
  • the customer is not in the company, or was deleted;
  • the customer already has an access to this campaign that was not removed.
If Edwige had an access that was removed earlier, giving access again restores it with the fields sent, instead of creating a new one. List campaign customers shows who was given access. When the offer is no longer meant for a customer, Remove campaign access takes it back. Giving access again later restores it.

Exclude a customer

For the bar that pays late, Codjo uses Exclude a customer. The customer cannot benefit from this campaign, whatever its access mode. The request is refused if the campaign is archived, if the customer is not in the company or was deleted, or if the customer is already excluded. An exclusion that was lifted earlier is restored instead of creating a new one.

The rules

  • Access and exclusions apply to one campaign at a time.
  • Giving access works only on a restricted campaign. Exclusions can be added to any campaign that is not archived.
  • On an archived campaign, nothing can be given, removed, excluded or lifted.
  • Removing an access or lifting an exclusion keeps the record, so doing the opposite action restores it.
  • Customers come from Manage customers.
